Griffith student, Digby Jones, has been awarded our 2026 Andrew Craig Engineering Scholarship, supporting his studies as he begins a Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Wollongong.
The annual scholarship was established as part of an initiative to invest in local talent and alleviate financial barriers faced by local students pursuing undergraduate engineering studies. The selection committee seeks out students who demonstrate leadership in their communities and show a strong commitment to using engineering as a tool to solve real-world problems.
The scholarship is named in honour of one of our founders, Andrew Craig, who helped develop the Spinning Cone Column (SCC) technology in the late 1970s and commercialised it from Griffith. This marked the beginning of the Flavourtech story, with many engineers settling in Griffith to help propel our award-winning technologies onto the global stage.
Digby has said that he is “extremely grateful for the opportunity this scholarship provides and believes it will help kickstart a successful degree and career as an engineer.”
A high-achieving student, Digby has long held a passion for science, mathematics and design, which inspired both his HSC success and his decision to pursue engineering at a tertiary level. “I have always been passionate about STEM and look forward to applying the fundamentals of physics and mathematics to engineering challenges,” he said.
Digby’s journey is a testament to the growing pool of talent emerging from Griffith, and this scholarship is sure to play an important role in furthering his goals in the field of engineering. Congratulations!
