Construction of Flavourtech’s new European facilities officially commences
7 June 2024
Construction of a multi-tenant building, Plus Ultra III, officially commenced yesterday at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. On completion, Flavourtech will make Plus Ultra III its European base with the establishment of both offices and a purpose-built pilot plant on site.
Flavourtech moved its European base to a temporary location at Wageningen University in 2023 and is looking forward to being the first tenant in the Kadans Science Partner development. Once complete, the new building will offer approximately 7,600 m2 of space for laboratories, pilot plants and offices. Its location, alongside the university’s Plus Ultra and Plus Ultra II buildings, with the Entrepreneurship Square as the connecting factor, aims to lend itself to innovative companies from the food, feed & biobased sectors.
Flavourtech’s General Manager, Leon Skaliotis commented that “Flavourtech and all of our European customers are very excited that Flavourtech will have their new offices and more importantly their pilot plant at Wageningen University. We are looking forward to future collaboration with customers, academic staff and the resident international business community in developing and enhancing the food and beverage tastes and flavours of the future.”
The start of construction was celebrated early this month with an on-site official ceremony. Speeches by Johan van Gerven (Country Lead Development, Kadans Science Partner), Leon Skaliotis (General Manager, Flavourtech) and Sebastiaan Berendse (Director of Value Creation, Wageningen University and Research) marked the milestone.
