Recipient of 2024 Flavourtech Andrew Craig Engineering Scholarship Announced
13 March 2024
Griffith student, Sophia Pierotti, has been awarded the Flavourtech Andrew Craig Engineering Scholarship to pursue a Bachelor of Project Management at the University of Sydney. The scholarship was awarded based on Sophia’s academic achievements, extracurricular activities and her yearning to tackle complex challenges with creativity and innovation.
Sophia graduated from Murrumbidgee Regional High School in 2022 and hopes to one day make a difference in her local community. She is particularly passionate about improving regional areas and aims to make a meaningful impact during her career.
“I’m really excited to have received this scholarship,” said Sophia. “It’s a huge honour, and it will help me achieve my goals.”
The scholarship has been established as part of a Flavourtech initiative to support students who are based in the Griffith NSW region. The program aims to invest in local talent and reduce the financial barriers for those enrolling in undergraduate engineering studies at a university of their choice. The selection committee looks for students who have shown leadership in the community and have a passion for using engineering to solve real-world problems.
The scholarship is named after one of the founders of Flavourtech, Andrew Craig, who helped develop the Spinning Cone Column technology in the late ‘70’s and commercialised it from Griffith. This began the Flavourtech story and since then many engineers have made Griffith their home and helped take Flavourtech technologies to the rest of the world and make it an award-winning company.
Flavourtech General Manager, Leon Skaliotis, says “we were very impressed with the standard of all the applications we received. We selected Sophia as she stood out from the other candidates as a go getter with a clear vision for her future. We believe she has the potential to make a significant impact on bettering Griffith as a regional area.”
Congratulations Sophia!
