Positions Available
Pilot Plant Technologist – Netherlands, Wageningen
Flavourtech expanded its global footprint with the launch of a cutting-edge office and pilot plant at Wageningen University & Research Centre in 2022. The facility is in the heart of the Netherlands’ renowned FoodValley, an international epicentre for food innovation.
Due to the continued growth of Flavourtech in the Netherlands we are seeking a fulltime Pilot Plant Technologist. Reporting to the Global R&D Manager (Applications), the Pilot Plant Technologist is a permanent full time position based at our pilot plant facility in Wageningen, with occasional travel to customer site as and when required.
About the position:
The core purpose of the role will be focused on assisting with the operation of Flavourtech’s pilot plant equipment, carrying out trials both as per internal and customer requirements, completing assigned R&D activities, while following health and safety protocols. This hands-on role requires self-driven individual assisting with any trial related queries including writing trial proposals/reports, running trials, supplier/customer liaison, mapping equipment capabilities, supporting research and development projects, day to day problem solving in the plant and providing technical support to different stakeholders within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- R&D: Conduct customer trials, analyse data, prepare reports, and contribute to product design and technology improvements. Document all activities per company policies and maintain the R&D project register.
- Pilot Plant Operations: Maintain a high standard of pilot plant equipment, assist with maintenance and CIP, manage sample library and assets, and ensure SOP compliance. Coordinate the sourcing of consumables.
- Customer Support: Build strong customer relationships, ensuring trials meet satisfaction. Provide ongoing product support and liaise with Universities/Industry/Research institute for collaborative projects.
- Organization: Contribute to corporate strategy, uphold company values, and ensure adherence to work health and safety policies. Maintain confidentiality and protect company interests.
- Stakeholder Support: Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders, providing technical assistance to Sales and Marketing team, and offering scientific advice as needed.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates on project progress and escalate issues promptly.

Essential qualifications and experience:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in food science or engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with an ability to operate commercial processing plants while troubleshooting as required.
- Teamwork and cooperation are vital in this role which demands an inherently positive and collaborative working relationship with teams across the business
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and solve problems within given timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail, well organised and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Adaptable, trustworthy, have excellent team spirit and good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physically fit and ability to lift/carry more than 15kg.
- Possess unrestricted work rights in Netherlands, a valid and current passport and Dutch driver’s license.
- The ability to fluently speak Dutch and English.
